Fire up the grill with these Garlic & Herb BBQ Prawns—juicy, flavourful, and perfectly charred. A quick and delicious dish for any barbecue or seafood lover by Ismat Awan.
Ingredients
Prawns:
- 1kg prawns (jumbo/king are great but up to your preference)
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp white pepper
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
Garlic oil for brushing:
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 50g butter, melted
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp parsley, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp dill, finely chopped
- 1 tsp salt
To serve:
- Lemon wedges
- Chili flakes (optional)
- Crusty bread
Step 1
Prepare the prawns: in a medium bowl or tray, mix the prawns with salt, white pepper, and minced garlic. Let them sit for 10 minutes at room temperature.
Step 2
Make the garlic oil: in a small bowl or glass measuring jug, mix olive oil, melted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, dill and salt. Set aside.
Step 3
Grill the Prawns: heat the BBQ or a grill pan over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill to prevent sticking.
Step 4
Place the prawns on the grill and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, flipping when the prawns turn pink and develop a light char.
Step 5
Serve & enjoy remove from the grill, drizzle with extra garlic oil, and serve hot with chili flakes, lemon wedges and crusty bread (to mop up all the deliciousness).
Notes
For the best texture, let the prawns sit at room temperature while they marinate, cold prawns don’t grill as evenly.
